Saturday 22nd April – Monday 1st May 2017: Azores Islands
The Azores Islands are a fascinating island archipelago belonging to Portugal. You may not expect the tropical conditions you find on the Azores. Small and intensely flavorful pineapples can be found as well as tea plantations on the island of San Miguel. Flowers are everywhere, especially in spring.
The island’s’ volcanic origin leaves unmistakable marks on the landscape and even in the cuisine. Steaming hot pools are everywhere, and the iconic dish of the Azores, a stew called Cozida is cooked by placing the pot in a hole in the ground near the famous caldeiras of Furnas, a town between Villa Franca and Nordeste on the map.
The Azores Islands are perfectly suited for all types of outdoor activities with its lack of pollution both in land and at sea as well as wonderful sceneries and unique and diverse terrain.
Activities are spent around stunning green views, crater lakes and grottos, beaches, fields of endemic vegetation, plants and birds of all varieties, all while surrounded by a clean blue ocean with pleasant water temperature that meets a pristine shoreline and a ocean fauna of priceless value.
